Falling Forward

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Fall leads to Winter
Fall is just around the corner—again. Does it seem to you that time is just flying by?

Autumn Equinox was on September 22. Did you happen to feel anything unusual on that day?

Here’s a great article about that event:

The quarter’s months of September, October, November and December are dominated by Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius and a bit of Capricorn. That means folks in general tend to be pickier (Virgo), more sociable (Libra), incredibly intense (Scorpio) and gregarious (Sag). Capricorn, of course, is all business and status.

But, those are all generalizations. To get an accurate reading of the months to come, check out your Natal chart for any Transits and Progressions.

With Pluto now in Direct Motion in Capricorn, talk of war could become a reality. Also, Neptune turns Direct in Pisces on November 22 so watch for covert activity.

As we gather warmer clothing and prepare for winter (well, those of us living within four seasons anyway), it’s a good time to take note of some inner preparation, too. During cooler weather, we tend to spend more time indoors and, in a way, are more often stuck with ourselves for company.

Have you done a lot of introspection lately? Would you like some ideas about how to clear this year’s messes so far, so you can move into a better space as you complete the year?

clearing leaves might be a good idea, too
1. Make lists. Absolutely jot down your goals, your thoughts, your achievements, your  disappointments. What you write doesn’t have to be elaborate. Just some words that will help take you to a deeper level.

2.  Start collecting items to accompany you through Fall. Perhaps it will be glass jars for canning jam from all the strawberries you harvested this summer. Or, maybe it’s a pile of books you’ve been meaning to read, but got too busy having summer fun to do so.

3.  Reach out to loved ones to let them know you still care, but that you’re taking off some Fall days to spend on better understanding yourself. Then, actually do it. Meditate, that is.

Those are just some ideas to wind up the year. You probably have more that you can come up with by following step 1. above.

Well, Gifted Readers. Gypsy Stars is contemplating ending this blog next year. We have one more post scheduled for December 31, so please stay tuned.

Meanwhile, you can find The Urban Goddess on Facebook as well as T_zing t-shirts on Cafe Press.

Good luck, light and love.

Sprung Over Spring

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

springing!
As they say, “spring has sprung” and with it so have the cosmos.

Besides the Sun entering Aries on March 20, Mercury also moved there earlier on March 14. And, Venus before that on February 4. Further, the planet of love and all things material went into retrograde motion a month later on March 4.

With so much fiery Aries energy coming at you, it’s good to remember that this is a combustible time. Aries is a cardinal fire sign that's aggressive, always moves forward and likes to lead, but rarely follows. In other words, Aries is the boss.

Aries’ ruling planet, Mars, was in also in Aries until March 10 before entering that plodder Taurus. A fixed earth sign, Taurus brings a stability to Mars that it needs in order to get things done. Otherwise, Mars in Aries tends to generate a bunch of ideas that are rarely solidified.

Those personal planets—Sun, Mercury, Venus and Mars (along with the Moon)—affect individuals more so than groups of people, while outer planets like Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto stay in a sign for a longer period and tend to influence generations. However, both Jupiter and Saturn can be considered somewhat personal as they do have shorter orbs.

Since February 6, transiting Jupiter has been retrograde in Libra opposite Aries. If you have a personal planet in Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter,  you may have felt as if there were a wall hindering you from achieving something. But it all depends on where you have that Sag placement. Areas where you can feel as if you’re stuck might include overseas travel, higher education and overall luck and fortune—a Jupiter domain. No worries, the planet will go direct again on June 10. Note that Saturn has been lingering in Sag, adding further hinderances and causing even more craziness as it goes retrograde on April 6.

So what does all this cosmic activity mean to the average person? Truthfully, not much unless you know your Natal chart. There are lots of websites that offer free charts these days, so input your birth info and take a look to see where the above planets intersect with yours.

For instance, if you have Aries Ascendant at 21 degrees, when Mercury hit it exactly on March 25, it likely triggered a communications emphasis for you. Whether that was a positive or negative experience depends on if Mercury created any aspects with other planets, both transiting and natal, and what Houses those planets were located in. Houses are areas of life in your chart and there are 12 of them.

Okay, that’s a lot of information to absorb if you aren’t already a serious student of Astrology. There’s nothing you can do, but study like mad. Oh, and by the way, that retrograde Venus goes all the way back into Pisces on April 3 before going direct on April 15. In general, romance and personal possessions could be given a second chance. Did you lose one or the other?

As for our own Saturnian issues with delays, Facebook has forced Gypsy Stars into creating a business page which is still pending. Right now, you can like both the Gypsy Stars or The Urban Goddess pages, but there hasn't been much activity with either recently.

What is with the Internet anyway—a Uranus domain--also currently in Aries. Our T-zing t-shirts have been stymied since Cafe Press changed its rules. Grrr.

No matter, here’s to a productive spring and, until June 30,

Good luck, light and love.

p.s.Happy Birthday, Lily! We love you forever!

The Shortest Day

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Winter Solstice is just a month away.

On December 21, we’ll experience the shortest amount of daylight in the entire year. In ancient times, that meant fear--fear of the unknown because of the darkness that could hide things that daylight wouldn’t. Of course, this was during a time before the electronic devices that today light up the dark skies. Imagine, sleeping under a beautiful full moon or a sky full of sparkling stars. A wondrous sight to be sure, but scary if you’re parked anywhere near wild animals and nocturnal creatures.

waiting for nightfall
Still, our ancestors must have had the time of their lives watching those vivid night skies. Just think about the stunning Milky Way and the incredible stories it’s inspired over centuries; like China's 'The Weaver Girl and the Cowherd'. This lovely folktale also appears in Japan and Korea.

For you Astrologers, can you imagine how much easier it was to view constellations and planetary movements without any hindrances from city skylines or the flashing taillights of aircraft?

Another event takes place tomorrow when the Sun moves into Sagittarius. Ruled by the jovial planet Jupiter, this sign loves the freedom of expansion, like making new friends out of strangers while traveling long distances.

A good way to enter this new Astro period is to plan your time. If you’re not careful, you’ll get caught up in Jupiter’s magnanimous spirit and accept way more holiday invites than you can possibly handle. That’s Sag for you.

If you have any comments about your experience with Sag or Jupiter, drop us a line. And, remember to ‘like’ The Urban Goddess on Facebook. That’s the page where we promote you and your metaphysical offerings, so check it out.

And, take a peek at our T_zing t-shirts at Café Press, too.

Enjoy!

Good luck, light and love,

Astrology's Golden Child

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Leos love the stage
In about four days, the Sun will move into the sign Leo. For all you roaring lions, primping lionesses and purring cubs out there, this is the time of year when you thrive. Stretching out in the summer sun, showing off your luminous skin and crazy-wild mane, you just love this season--especially when folks start celebrating your birthday and all attention is focused on you.

Because attention is what Leos crave most--especially on a large scale. Up there on stage, surrounded by a multitude of adoring fans, it just doesn’t getter any better for you posing pussycats. You Leos love large crowds. In fact, you love anything large. And gaudy. That’s not to say all of you love bright, shiny things full of gold. But if you have a strong Sun in Leo placement, you’re likely to be drawn to clothing that sparkles and, not just at the disco. It all has to do with your sense of royalty. You are, after all, King of the Jungle.

King of the Jungle in gold
Unless you have a badly aspected Leo Sun, you are most at home on stage in the spotlight beaming away. You may think of it as leading others, but it’s really more about having your ego stroked. But that’s okay. In a lot of ways, Leo’s need for adulation is a lot less harmful than, say, Scorpio’s avenging manipulation.

can't get more golden than these guys
Which brings us to this. What about the rest of us Sun signs? What does this period do to us?

Seattle Astrologer Dave L., on left, has Leo rising
For fire signs, Aries and Sagittarius, there’s a more harmonious feel during Leo months. For earth, water and air signs like Taurus, Scorpio or Aquarius, it might feel strained since you're all signs that square Leo. But everything depends on where Leo will transit in your Natal chart. What House will be affected? What planets will the Sun make hard aspects to? Those are the triggers to watch for.

Seattle Astrologer Dave H. has Leo Moon
For instance, in Gypsy Stars’ chart, the Sun in Leo will transit her 10th House of Career. Hey, now that sounds promising. If I’m already working, then I should be applauded and recognized. Maybe, I’ll even get a bonus. On the other hand, if I’m looking for a job, the one I acquire during this time could be a keeper

If you’d like to know more about how the Sun in Leo affects your Natal chart, drop us a line at gypsystars@me.com.

Here’s an early Leo birthday shout-out to Seattle Astrology Group’s James Clark, below.

With all this talk about the Sun, Gypsy Stars almost forgot to ask how you enjoyed the Super Moon of July 12. If you missed it, you have two more chances on August 10 and September 9. Here’s a link to an explanation of the phenomena, which is basically when the moon is closer to earth in its orbit and looks larger to us here on Earth.

Remember, we’re always looking for metaphysicians—astrologers, numerologists, Tarot readers, spiritual healers and more to interview for this blog. Additionally, The Urban Goddess will promote you on Facebook, so join us and tell your story.

Until September 20, have a happy Leo summer!

The Law According To Oya

Greetings, Gifted Reader!

Kanaka's Oshun necklace for love
What area of life do you find yourself needing the most help with these days? For a lot of people, relationships are a constant problem because they involve others who can never be controlled. No matter how much you love someone, you can’t make that person do what you want them to, how you want them to, or when you want them to.

Gypsy Stars suggests for those of you experiencing frustration in your love life to try understanding what it’s like for the object of your affection. Even though it’s perfectly human to want to enjoy love the way you want to with that person, you must remember that everyone has his or her own way of loving you back. You can also ask for Oshun's assistance, but that's another blog.

Besides seeking help with relationships, a lot of people also tend to ask for advice about making more money, dealing with work woes, having a successful career, or how to have a happier family life. Actually, those are some of the easier situations to deal with and for which solutions are more abundant. It’s those pesky relationships that disappoint us the most!

One irritant that I have personally rubbed up against more than once in my life involves legal issues. Whether you’re dealing with a lawsuit, lawyers or judges, it’s not easy for a layperson to navigate the increasingly complicated and elitist legal system.

The Astrological signs most associated with law are Libra and Sagittarius. The 7th House rules 'open enemies' (as opposed to the 8th House of 'secret enemies'), while the 9th House rules higher education and law. Jupiter, ruler of Sag, is the planet of justice. If you have a preponderance of planets in Libra or Sag, be prepared to have to confront someone in a courtroom at some point in your life.

But know, too, that there are ways to protect yourself against lawsuits and help you prevail in them. One of the most effective is the Yoruba deity Oya. The warrior goddess of lightning and sudden storms, wind and fire, Oya is also the administrator of justice. Her number is 9, interestingly the same as the House that Sag rules.

Take 9 eggplants to the cemetery where Oya lives. Wear purple and silver. Light a purple candle, or light 9 of them. Give yourself over to the mama of righteousness who won’t see her children trample on by lowlife liars and thieves. Oya has her own special way of dealing with those without principles who cross your path and steal from you. Probably one of the most misunderstood deities, Oya’s fierceness is not without good cause. A believer in fairness, she will not sit by idly and watch the innocent suffer.

Here's more about Oya:
