This Magic Moment

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

abracadabra!
Magic is defined as something supernatural. It’s like when you wish you had, say, a new job and a friend calls out of the blue to tell you her boss is hiring a person to do exactly what you do and she recommended you. Now, that’s magic.

Generally a good thing, magic happens unexpectedly, but it can also be the manifestation of something we have wished for. What is magical to you? What would you wish for if you could have anything given to you—hocus pocus, abracadabra--with no strings?

We’ve all heard beauty pageant contestants proclaim they would wish for “world peace”, but what if the magic you seek is of a more personal nature? Would you wish for something like a new house or car? Or, would your desire be for something that would improve your physical or mental prowess? Would you want a new body, a new way of thinking, or a totally new feeling about life?

Magic appears every single day in our lives, if we’re paying attention. Is discovering Quan Yin in the middle of Chinatown Honolulu more magical than finding King Tut smack dab in Seattle’s ID?

Creativity is magic, too. Think about art forms like anime and cosplay. Sure, those may be just costumes someone’s wearing, but it somehow transforms them into a real character. Magic.

Meanwhile, Gypsy Stars will magically reappear here on November 15. Presto!

Good luck, light and love,

Astrology's Golden Child

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Leos love the stage
In about four days, the Sun will move into the sign Leo. For all you roaring lions, primping lionesses and purring cubs out there, this is the time of year when you thrive. Stretching out in the summer sun, showing off your luminous skin and crazy-wild mane, you just love this season--especially when folks start celebrating your birthday and all attention is focused on you.

Because attention is what Leos crave most--especially on a large scale. Up there on stage, surrounded by a multitude of adoring fans, it just doesn’t getter any better for you posing pussycats. You Leos love large crowds. In fact, you love anything large. And gaudy. That’s not to say all of you love bright, shiny things full of gold. But if you have a strong Sun in Leo placement, you’re likely to be drawn to clothing that sparkles and, not just at the disco. It all has to do with your sense of royalty. You are, after all, King of the Jungle.

King of the Jungle in gold
Unless you have a badly aspected Leo Sun, you are most at home on stage in the spotlight beaming away. You may think of it as leading others, but it’s really more about having your ego stroked. But that’s okay. In a lot of ways, Leo’s need for adulation is a lot less harmful than, say, Scorpio’s avenging manipulation.

can't get more golden than these guys
Which brings us to this. What about the rest of us Sun signs? What does this period do to us?

Seattle Astrologer Dave L., on left, has Leo rising
For fire signs, Aries and Sagittarius, there’s a more harmonious feel during Leo months. For earth, water and air signs like Taurus, Scorpio or Aquarius, it might feel strained since you're all signs that square Leo. But everything depends on where Leo will transit in your Natal chart. What House will be affected? What planets will the Sun make hard aspects to? Those are the triggers to watch for.

Seattle Astrologer Dave H. has Leo Moon
For instance, in Gypsy Stars’ chart, the Sun in Leo will transit her 10th House of Career. Hey, now that sounds promising. If I’m already working, then I should be applauded and recognized. Maybe, I’ll even get a bonus. On the other hand, if I’m looking for a job, the one I acquire during this time could be a keeper

If you’d like to know more about how the Sun in Leo affects your Natal chart, drop us a line at gypsystars@me.com.

Here’s an early Leo birthday shout-out to Seattle Astrology Group’s James Clark, below.

Seattle Astrologer James C. has Leo Sun
With all this talk about the Sun, Gypsy Stars almost forgot to ask how you enjoyed the Super Moon of July 12. If you missed it, you have two more chances on August 10 and September 9. Here’s a link to an explanation of the phenomena, which is basically when the moon is closer to earth in its orbit and looks larger to us here on Earth.

Remember, we’re always looking for metaphysicians—astrologers, numerologists, Tarot readers, spiritual healers and more to interview for this blog. Additionally, The Urban Goddess will promote you on Facebook, so join us and tell your story.

If you live in Honolulu, you can read our quarterly Animal Astrology horoscopes in Cherry Pop Revue magazine. And, we have t-shirts!

Until September 20, have a happy Leo summer!

T. Renee Richardson, DD: The Am-Badass-ador of Light

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Dr. Renee with Joe Anthony, her battery crystal
The islands of Hawai’i are some of the most sacred spots on earth. It’s little wonder then, that spiritual practitioners choose this location to heal others and, likewise, to be healed. Below, Gypsy Stars interviews T. Renee Richardson, DD, a well-respected professional healer and clairvoyant with over 30 years of experience. Living on Kaua’i, Dr. Renee is known for helping thousands of clients worldwide. With her dedication to her path, her accuracy, compassionate detachment, authenticity, positive attitude and sense of humor, Dr. Renee is a sought-after healer with global recognition.

Q: Dr. Renee, how did you first discover your spiritual gifts, and how old were you then?

A: I’ve perceived energy patterns and spirits since I was born. My earliest memory of any outward expression is when I was three-years old. I’d tell my mother’s friends things about themselves and their lives when they came over to visit with her.

Q: Besides being clairvoyant, you also read Tarot cards and perform hands-on healing. Did one component lead to another, and how?

A: I’d never even heard of divination cards until I was 30-years old. I saw a beautiful Mah Jongg deck in a Jewish deli in Florida. The delicate watercolor images captivated me, and the philosophy coincided with my background in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Most people today know Mah Jongg as a gambling game. However, prior to that in the East, everyone went to the “fortune teller” during Lunar New Year (Chinese New Year). Those cards have developed into the gambling game of today.

When I use cards during a session, I most often use the vibrant Osho Zen Tarot card deck; however, not in the traditional manner. I use the cards as a platform for my clairvoyant visions. They always coincide with the question being addressed by my client. But the card provides an image that I can point to, that they can also see!

Although I now combine clairvoyant consultation and energy healing in sessions, those two skills were developed as separate aspects.

Q: You also use humor for healing. Why is laughter so important?

A: One of my favorite clients says, “Laughter is the cheapest medicine!” The answer is multi-faceted. Laughter lightens the spirit, shifting emotions into a more positive frame of mind. Secondly, laughter literally creates movement in the power center--the abdomen--releasing stuck energy as well as providing healthful movement for the internal organs. Last but not least, ultimately all healing is self-healing. Healers facilitate that healing, but without realization on the part of the client, no lasting healing can occur. Humor and laughter make the healing process more enjoyable, feel safer and less judgmental. It’s easier to accept even the harshest of truths and ugliest of self-realizations when it can be viewed from a humorous point of view.

Q: You also create handcrafted items like healing wands. How do those implements help your clients?

A: The handcrafted energy healing wands I create increase the potency of the healing sessions as well as extend my stamina. So the clients’ work goes deeper, faster, and their goals are reached more efficiently. With additional stamina, I can see more clients per week and attend to my self-care at the same time. Clients who choose to purchase wands I have available, or have a wand custom made, benefit from having a tool to extend their healing work on their own in a more potent manner. These implements are tools--they are not required, but I’ve found them very useful. I compare using tools or not to choosing to eat a bowl of broth with one’s fingers when there is a spoon available.

Q: For 30 or more years, you've helped heal others. Is there anything you wished you had done differently--started earlier, started later, opted for another career, etc.?

Golden Lotus Healing Studio
A: At this point, I wouldn’t change a thing. A few years ago, I thought I regretted having combined my metaphysical work with various types of social work, due to the harsh stress that the latter type of work entails. It took a toll on me. It’s been several years now since I retired from social work and released it, focusing solely on my metaphysical work. I must say I’m very grateful for all of that experience, education, and even stress, as those years provided a level of compassion and expertise that most people in this field do not develop. There’s no seminar that could provide that type of training. Those tools added to my skills provide me with the confidence to proudly assert my title, “The AmBadassador of Light!”

Q: How has living in Hawai'i benefited you with your spiritual work?

A: The raw, potent spiritual power of Kaua’i holds, nurtures, challenges, cleanses, motivates and inspires me. I feel at one with the spirit of the island. Especially as I live right by a stream, between the bubbling sound and the continuous energetic movement, I feel wrapped in a fluid burrito of unflappable Divinity!

Q: Any future plans--books, lectures, readings, etc.?

A: Yes! Thanks for asking!

When Dreams Come True

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

full moon dreaming...
Are you a dreamer? Can you remember your dreams? Do you analyze or write them down? Do you feel that bad dreams portend something awful coming into your future? Or, do you just attribute them to a worrisome day, or that pizza you ate for a bedtime snack? What about dreams that indicate something spectacular and wonderful is headed your way? Are they just wishful thinking, or a premonition?

Gypsy Stars thinks dreams can be all of the above. In some indigenous civilizations, it’s believed that dreams are representative of our real lives—our souls’ lives, while our waking state is where we’re really not awakened at all.

being awake...
One thing dream interpreters can agree on is that dreams are a way of connecting with our deeper consciousness. In our busy, everyday lives, we are hyperaware of things strewn in our immediate paths. The phone is ringing, someone’s playing their boombox too loud, the baby’s crying, our laptop is pinging with newly arrived emails and, watch out!, that driver in front of you just slammed on their brakes. We are so bombarded with stuff that we just aren’t connecting to us.

So, dreams do that job for us during the times where we are most quiet and attentive, while we’re asleep.

the subconscious sea...
Several nights ago, Gypsy Stars dreamt of someone she hadn’t spoken to in sixth months. Although they had enjoyed a 20-year friendship, that person (let’s call her Meg) chose to isolate herself for awhile. The dream was intense. In it, Meg was seated in a 5-star restaurant, hunched over a linen tablecloth and crying uncontrollably. Gypsy Stars was merely an observer in the dream, but she clearly understood that Meg had moved to another city (something she had long desired to do). Without speaking, Gypsy Stars asked the question, “Why?” and a voiceless reply came in the way of an understanding. Meg had moved across the country to follow a man to the city she found herself in, but he had stood her up. Upon waking, Gypsy Stars felt distraught. Why was Meg crying so hard in her dream? Why was she so upset? It had been several months since they last spoke, so Gypsy Stars immediately went to a social networking site she knew Meg logged on to frequently. There, she saw the three letters she intuitively knew she would find: RIP. It seems her friend, Meg, had passed away four days prior.

Meg and me..
What do you think, Gifted Reader? Was it a message from Meg from the beyond tapping into Gypsy Stars’ subconscious?

Do you have a story to share about any of your dreams? Please drop us a line at gypsystars@me.com.

In fond remembrance of Meg, Gypsy Stars dedicates this blog post to her with a wish that her soul has found peace on her new journey.

Remember to look for our T_zing t-shirts and our quarterly Animal Astrology horoscopes in Cherry Pop Revue magazine.

See you here on May 17. Until then, sweet dreams.

Good luck, light and love,
Gypsy Stars

New Year, New You

Greetings, Gifted Reader.

Omedettou Gozaimasu! That’s Happy New Year in Japanese.

Like many other cultures that celebrate the New Year, Japanese tend to take a more spiritual approach than the West. Does your culture perform any special rituals at this time of year? Would you like to share them with our readers?

Gypsy Stars literally lucked out this year and was invited to attend the midnight gonging for 108 human sufferings at a Buddhist Temple. That was special enough, but the next day, I celebrated (along with hundreds of others) at a Shinto Shrine.

First, we sipped on ozoni soup with mochi, then drank a small cup of sake flecked with gold (for prosperity).

sake with gold...
We then purchased a fortune. If you didn’t like yours, you could tie it to a tree and buy another until you were satisfied.

Afterward, we washed our hands, and stood in line to receive a cleansing and blessing by Shinto priests. While one cleared us of all the bad luck of last year, another rang bells to scare away evil spirits.

go away bad spirits...
After that, we headed back to the Shrine’s store to purchase New Year omamori (good luck charms).

omamori for everything...
The upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year will be honor of the Green Wood Horse. How will it factor in your life? Are you a horse? Don’t forget, animals resent having to share their year with you, so be cautious. Thank the stars, there are other factors at work that can negate bad fortune.

Speaking of, t_zing now has animal astrology t-shirts, so check them out.

And, please like The Urban Goddess facebook fan page that we created for all metaphysicians. If you’d like to be interviewed for this blog, email gypsystars@me.com

In keeping with change for the New Year, Gypsy Stars will now move to a bimonthly format. Look for us again on March 15.

Banzai!

Good luck, light and love,
Gypsy Stars
